Krithi Shetty, born on September 21, 2003, in Mangalore, Karnataka, was raised in a Tulu-speaking family. Her father is a businessman, and her mother is a fashion designer. She spent her formative years in Mumbai, where she developed a passion for the arts alongside her academic pursuits. Fluent in multiple languages, including Tulu, Hindi, and English, Krithi also learned Telugu and Tamil to enhance her acting career.
During her school years, Krithi ventured into modeling and appeared in various commercial advertisements, promoting brands such as The Sleep Company, Idea, Parle, Blue Star, and Lifebuoy. Her exposure to the entertainment industry during these early years sparked her interest in acting.
Initially, Krithi aspired to become a doctor and even enrolled in an MBBS program. However, due to her increasingly hectic work schedule in the entertainment industry, she decided to switch her field of study to psychology, pursuing her education through an open university in London.
Krithi's acting career took a significant turn when she was discovered by director Buchi Babu Sana during one of her advertisement shoots. He offered her the lead role of Sangeetha, also known as Bebamma, in the Telugu film "Uppena" (2021). At just 17 years old, Krithi made her debut in this film, which became a commercial success, grossing over ₹100 crore. Her performance was well-received, with critics noting her ability to portray the intricacies of her character effectively.
Following the success of "Uppena," Krithi starred in several films across different South Indian languages:
"Shyam Singha Roy" (2021): A Telugu film where she played the role of Keerthi opposite actor Nani. The film received mixed to positive reviews and was a commercial success, grossing over ₹60 crore at the box office.
"Bangarraju" (2022): She portrayed Naga Lakshmi alongside Naga Chaitanya. The film emerged as a success, grossing over ₹66 crore.
"The Warriorr" (2022): A bilingual film directed by N. Lingusamy, where she appeared opposite Ram Pothineni. Despite high expectations, the film received negative reviews and was a commercial failure.
"Macherla Niyojakavargam" (2022): Directed by M. S. Rajashekhar Reddy, the film opened to negative reviews and failed at the box office.
"Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali" (2022): Co-starring Sudheer Babu and directed by Mohana Krishna Indraganti, the film received mixed reviews and became a commercial failure.
"Custody" (2023): A bilingual film marking her Tamil-language debut, co-starring Naga Chaitanya. The film opened to mixed reviews and did not perform well at the box office.
"Manamey" (2024): Starring alongside Sharwanand, the film opened to mixed reviews but became a commercial success at the box office.
Despite facing several setbacks with films that did not perform as expected, Krithi remained resilient. She viewed each experience as a learning opportunity, understanding that failures are an integral part of an actor's journey. Her positive outlook and dedication to her craft have been instrumental in her continued success.
